Today in Hollywood Wokeness: The Simpsons Gets Political, New Movie Set to Bash Fox News

Wednesday was another day in Hollywood wokeness, and if you thought it couldn’t get any more unbearable, it did.

Let’s start with The Simpsons, an old favorite that stopped being funny circa 1998. In a desperate attempt to remain relevant, a part of a recent episode was cringeworthy – nearly unwatchable – in one skit “The Squad,” Reps. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) chase President Donald J. Trump around to tell him how wrong he is about everything.

The act is set to a song.

“So many problems – tariffs – I need a distraction,” cartoon Trump says from behind his desk, looking dejected.

Then he breaks into song, holding a photo of “The Squad.”

“They shouldn’t be in America, no one but me in America, no taxes for me in America, this is my natural hair-ica,” he sings.

I can’t type in anymore of the transcript without barfing up my dinner, but “The Squad” comes to life and begins chasing Trump around the White House, insulting he and First Lady Melania Trump. It is, objectively, the worst episode in The Simpsons’ 30-year history.

If that weren’t terrible enough, a trailer for the movie “Bombshell” also came out Wednesday. The film is based on the former Fox News chief Roger Ailes’ sexual harassment scandal.

“The film will tell the story of the Fox News sexual harassment scandal from the point of view of the women who took on the toxic male culture of Fox News, ultimately leading to Ailes’ downfall,” according to movie reviewers CherryPicks.

The film stars Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, and Margot Robbie, and comes out in December.

Fair enough, but you might recall CBS’ former chief Leslie Moonves had a similar scandal where he reportedly “received oral sex from at least 4 CBS employees under circumstances that sound transactional and improper to the extent that there was no hint of any relationship, romance, or reciprocity (especially given what we know about his history of more or less forced oral sex with women with whom he has no ongoing relationship).”

Moonves, too, was forced to resign over behavior that is allegedly worse that Ailes’. I’m willing to bet Hollywood won’t be coming out with a film about that anytime soon.

Here’s the trailer for “Bombshell,” if you’re interested:
